Well done quizking!

Well he's been there for months and finally today the king can truly be crowned. Quizking is the first Fantasy Football Agent champion.

This, of course, being a game for gentlemen holds its amatuer status with pride. Which means he doesn't win anything except the love and admiration of fellow agents. However, he will be inaugurated into the FFA Hall of Fame.

Will he retain his trophy - not if you can stop him.

The new summer competition starts tomorrow - your squads may take a bit of a hammering as the elves have already stripped Zen of players that have left the premiership and rejigged their values in accordance with the rules that start from midnight tonight. If you spend any new found budget you can start scoring with new players by Saturday.

Defensive wail

The England squad is losing defenders at an amazing rate, if you look at the treatment table it's a pretty good back four of Neville, Ferdinand, Dawson and Cole. Given Steve's headache at the back for the games against Brazil and Estonia it's no wonder that England defenders dominate the points.

Sprinkled into the mix are a few names you know will be talked about all summer - well until someone sticks their hand in their pockets and buy them that is. Bellamy, Martins, McCarthy, Berbatov, Crouch and Owen are - as far as the papers are concerned - all to make big money moves either to Liverpool, Man United or Europe (if they're any good), or to Newcastle or Villa (if they're not).

IMPORTANT SUMMER MADNESS starts on Friday, today will be the last day you can bring new players in and start scoring withe them from Day 1 - the new rules should prove to be very interesting.

One man show

Of course, Liverpool dominate the scores today with 10 out the top 12, netting at least 7 points each. At the top of the pile, club captain Stevie G stands out well ahead of his team-mates.

Tonight's contest is quite rightly being seen as a straight battle between him and Gattuso - with whoever getting the better out of that confrontation walking away with the spoils.

The only other players to muscle in on the points are Silvain Distin thanks to lots of grinding in the rumour mills and Sheva - who's obviously being rewarded for his penalty miss in the Champions League final two years ago. Now that's a real FFA long term investment.

Who's our money on? Really couldn't say, Liverpool feel like they deserve to be their this time - which could be their undoing. United have been shaky against decent opposition over the last couple of months, Liverpool on the other hand seem to strengthen in the same games, with this in mind I think they'll do better than United against Milan - whether that's enough is another matter. One thing for certain is that Liverpool will have more staying power than Milan - so don't discount another come back - and if it goes to extra time I'd say stick on Liverpool win.

Either way, Stevie G is bound to be in the points again tomorrow.

Just a few days to go

Just 10 days to go now before the end of the first season of FFA and the start of our "Summer Madness" tournament.

This week the points will largely be coming from Liverpool. Drogba managed to get 13 points on Saturday for scoring the winner, be interesting to see how many someone will get for doing the same in the Champions League final.

Of course, our game doesn't include non-premiership players (for the moment at least) which raises the question about what will become of all the Watford, Charlton and Sheffield United clients you have in your portfolio. These relegated players will be removed from the game on June 1 freeing up any budget you have devoted to them - the good news is that they will be replaced by a number of Sunderland, Birmingham and either Derby or West Brom players.

There's only two more Fridays before the start of Summer Madness, after that there won't be any more revaluations until the start of the new season proper in August.

Welcome new agents

Our write up in When Saturday Comes has introduce some new agents to the game - more sharks in the tank. If you're new, we'd love to hear a comment from you.

The end of the season proper has signaled the start of transfer flapdoodle - our favourite time of year.

The media this week is awash with the Tevez story and he's reaping the points as a result. Were the Premier League right to not deduct points from West Ham? Frankly, as a Fantasy Football Agent you shouldn't care less - you should be looking after your players embroiled in controversy - that's how we get on in this game.

We got some good feedback on the new rules - we'll test them out over the summer and see how they pan out.

Remember the close season game starts June 1 and the new season proper on August 1. The new rules will be published in the "How to play" section of the site from the end of the week.

Summer madness

Summertime - time to sit back and unwind ... so Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince told us back in 1991. But not football agents, while other fantasy football games have to shut up shop for the season agents must desperately dash around as the transfer market hits its busiest time.

Our first season will end on 31 May, where, barring a miracle, quizking will be crowned champion - but what then?

Well between 1 June and 31 July we will be having our "Summer Madness" competition, as papers go into overdrive making up filler guff for the backpages so that they can desperately satisfy the need to have at least some football content. Everyone's total score will be zeroed on 1 June so we all start at the same level, but you keep all of your players at their current values.

Summer madness will be a bit different in that player values will remain static for the duration - so you won't lose any players (unless you want to).

IMPORTANT: From the 1 June we're introducing new rules on the values of players. At the moment you can keep a player as long as what you pay for him is not £100 less than he's worth. The new rule is you can keep him as long as his value is less than £100 more than you pay, OR less than double what you pay. This means you will lose £50 players if they reach £100 and £75 players if they reach £150.

Any agents with £25 players will have them converted to £50 players, if necessary agents may lose their lowest value players if they exceed budget as a result.

I'll put the information on the rules pages - once i've got them all clear in my head.

The new season proper will start on 1 August.

Best league in the world

A few weeks back, the media delighted in basking in the glory of English clubs: proudly boasting that the Premiership is the best league in the world as three of their number made it to the Semi finals of the Champions League, with one of them demolishing Roma on the way.

The words seem pretty hollow now after the Premiership's Champions-elect we're pretty much spanked by an AC Milan that oozed wit, guile and determination.

Of all the teams on show this week, Milan looked the only one worthy of the name Champions. But then that doesn't mean they're going to win it, does it.

Pepe Reine hits double figures today thanks in part to his penalty heroics but more for the fact his house was done over while he was out. He's joined on 10 points by a bunch of players including all three of United's misfiring forward line.

**IMPORTANT** Tomorrow I'll be announcing some changes happening here for next season and what we'll be up to over the summer.

A good day to bury bad Joey

The Champions League semi final is the real big story of the day, and just about diverted everyone's attention away from one Joey Barton and his training ground bust-up with Ousemane Dabo.

The match itself wasn't the prettiest of affairs: Liverpool looked up for it from the word go while Chelsea looked unimaginative (even for them) and frankly tired of the whole sorry thing. I'm sure it was very tense if you supported either side.

On any other day Barton and Dabo would be looking to get up to 10 for their spat but a shoot-out at Anfield sees them well down the table of top scores for the day.

Congratulations to backrubslut for winning the Agent of the Month award for April, breaking the quizking/Wardonkey stranglehold for the first time since August.

Also, well done to Champion-elect quizking for breaking the 10,000 point barrier last week.
