Ghana put a pun here

If you haven't caught any coverage of the African Cup of Nations I recommend you do. The games I've seen have been great - everything you ever hope for from international tournament football. So much better than the normal live fodder we get at this time of year.

The slew of African players that have left the Premier League for Ghana are continuing to score plenty (contrast and compare with other Fantasy Football games) - largely because of the fact they're not playing for their clubs rather than focussing on what they're doing in Africa.

In the game quizking and wardonkey seem to be swapping the season lead on a daily basis, while jellyneck is proving last month wasn't a fluke by chasing the champion down to the wire for the Agent of the Month award.

Windows 2008

Probably the most anticipated January Transfer window has arrived but a week in and there's been little movement. But who cares because there's been plenty of idle speculation.

The large number of managerial shuffles that have taken place have led many believe (including me) that wallets would be opened but as with the summer you usually have to wait until the last minute for the big money to start changing hands.

The smart money has been snapping up players like Anelka and Berbatov, and their values continue to rocket as result of continual rumours - both these players could easily be �300 plus come the end of the month. Chelsea isn't usually associated with bargains but Wayne Bridge at �75 and Michael Ballack a snip at �150 have proved too good to miss for many of you.

Looking at the tables, Wardonkey's long, long lead on the season table has been gobbled up by the champion quizking. Can he make it two seasons in a row?

Happy New Year

It's a cruel, cruel game this sometimes. After a almost a whole month at the top jellyneck was pipped to December's Agent of the Month award at the last by FFA champion quizking. Undaunted, Jelly's made a good start to January.

January should prove a very busy month with the opening of the Transfer window. Dimitar Berbatov and Nicolas Anelka will be heaping the points while their real world agents tart their services to anyone with a few million pounds burning a whole in their budget.

Transfer Tuesday returns next week and already we've seen the first casualties: Gary Speed and Derby's Steve Howard have both taken loan moves to the Championship, so they'll be leaving the game then.
