Spring forward, fall back

The clocks have gone back, the evenings are drawing in and there's a definite chill to the air. Winter is fast coming, and that can only mean the rumour mill will start grinding in earnest, building up to the January transfer window.

The key rumours, at the moment centre around which Portsmouth players Harry Redknapp will pinch for his new club Tottenham. Expect Jermain Defoe to get a few more points than usual in the coming weeks.

With just three days left to go for this month, new_matt is looking good to take his first Agent of the Month award. If you're wondering where you've heard his name before, he won our Euro 2008 contest back in July.

As promised, here's a few new names to grace player selection board...

TRANSFER TUESDAY Latest additions to the game: Marlon King (Hull City), Tuncay Sanli (Middlesbrough), Djibril Cisse (Sunderland), Winston Palacios, Antonio Valencia and Amr Zaki (all Wigan).

End of the Anderson bonanza

Frequent readers of this piece (hello mum) will remember the issues i was having with our scoring computer Zen at the beginning of the month.

Well I took a lump hammer to it and everything seemed to be fine apart from one small thing - Zen, seemed to take a bit of a shine to Manchester United's dreadlocked Brazialian, Anderson.

Everyday now for the past two weeks he's been up near the top of the table without doing anything, which for someone like Cristiano Ronaldo is fine, but for someone who is there frankly to make up the numbers proved a little worrying.

Well I think I've discovered the bent pin that was causing Zen's infatuation and straightened it out. Hopefully Anderson will go back to posting just the odd few points instead of his superhuman efforts of late.

So if you put him in your portfolio beware - his point scoring could dip like a high street bank's share price.

Transfer Tuesday tomorrow, and an overdue introduction to the game for Amir Zaki. Expect another update from me then - I know two in two days, I'll have a lie down now I think.

Return of the King

OK, a couple of apologies to start off with. Firstly, sorry I haven't blogged on here in a while, I've been far too caught up in with the Onion Bag getting a regular slot on ITV.com, going for a footie weekend in Germany and any other assortment of distractions. We've got loads of new agents signing up, which is excellent - and some of them are already showing up some of us old hands.

Secondly, this weekend saw our scoring computer, Zen, throw a strop and refuse to produce any numbers. The explanation is this: he didn't get his papers delivered. Well ok, I've dumbed down the explanation a bit, but let's face it you don't want to hear me bang on about XML or JSON feeds, do you. Anyway, if you were put out of your way by it - sorry - it's all been fixed now.

Congratulations to former champion quizking who took the September Agent of the Month title. Staggeringly, it's his 10th AotM award - and I doubt very strongly it'll be his last. The guy's just a Fantasy Football Agent machine.
